When Spring finally becomes Summer, we all make lots of swaps on our every day stuff – cooler clothes come out of the back of the wardrobe, boots get swapped for sandals and coats are swapped for lighter jackets to see us through the warm evenings. It’s logical, also, to swap our cosmetics, opting for things which are more suitable for summer skin, so we thought we’d take a look at some of the swaps you can make.
Moisturiser
Winter is prime time for dry skin, and many of us opt for a super-rich body moisturiser like Decleor Nourishing Body Balm, with its unique blend of essential oils to give skin a deep wash of hydration. In the summer, you might want to swap this for Decleor Gradual Glow Hydrating Body Milk, which will moisturise the skin and give you excellent levels of hydration, but will also give you a gradual, buildable tan so that your skin gets a summer glow without the risk of sun damage.
SPF
As you’ll know, we at Pure Beauty advocate the wearing of some sort of sun protection all year round, even when it’s grey and rainy. Something like Decleor BB Cream 24 Hour Hydration SPF15 Medium is ideal for most of the year, offering a smoothing base with sun protection to perfect your skin. However, once the sun starts to shine, it’s sensible to reach for a more powerful product, and we strongly recommend Dermalogica Prisma Protect SPF30, which provides broad spectrum defence while preventing future signs of skin damage.
Lips
If you use a super-rich lip treatment in the winter, such as Decleor Luxuriant Nourishing Lip Balm, you’ll know that a potent formula is needed when the cold weather and central heating are giving your lips a battering. Once Summer comes along and your environment starts being a bit kinder to your lips, switching to a lighter formula such as Elemis Lip Revive will be more than adequate for keeping your lips in tip-top condition.
Hair
Winter can be really tough on your hair – much like lips, hair often struggles in the cold weather, especially when going from the cold outside into centrally heated buildings, and frizz can be a real problem. If something like Elemis Japanese Camellia Body Oil Blend is your go-to hair oil when the weather is dire, switching it up for something lighter like Decleor Aroma Nutrition Satin Softening Dry Oil in the summer will give your hair plenty of nourishment without being too heavy.
