With so many new products being bought out onto the beauty market every day there’s no wonder people have got lotions and potions pouring out of every space they have available. If this sounds like you then it’s time to give your beauty regime a bit of an overhaul and go back to basics.
Rather than rushing out to buy every new product on the market with the hope that it will live up to its claims, stick to your trusted, tried and tested few products and stick to a strict skin care regime and you’re guaranteed to notice a change.
In order to provide your skin with the treatment it needs there are four essential products that you have to have.
1. Cleanser: This should be your first stop every morning and evening as it provides your skin with the deep clean that it needs to get it ready for the day and remove the build-up of dirt and impurities at the end of it. Dermalogica believes in the power of a double cleanse so before your usual cleanser try the Dermalogica Precleanse for an even deeper clean.
2. Toner: Toners are intended to restore moisture after the deep clean of cleansing and prepare your skin to take in its maximum capacity of moisture when moisturising.
3. Moisturiser: There’s no need for hundreds of different moisturisers, as long as you have one with SPF protection for the day time and one with a thicker, richer consistency for the evening your skin will be completely transformed. If your general moisturiser doesn’t have an SPF protection then it doesn’t mean that you have to go out and buy a new one; instead try Dermalogica’s Solar Defence Booster with SPF 50 and add it to your current moisturiser.
4. Exfoliator: Exfoliating is essential as it removes dead and dulling skin cells from your skin’s surface preventing them from blocking the pores and helps to reveal a bright layer of skin. You should avoid over exfoliating – only do it once or twice per week – unless you have an exfoliator like Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant which is gentle enough to be used every day.
