This time of year can be hard on your skin. The weather is harsh and cold, central heating dries you out, and there’s way too much drinking and merriment for most of us, all of which can result in a dodgy complexion. We like to take a proactive approach at this time of year and try to meet issues head on, before they become a problem, so we’ve put together five tips which can help you to beat the blemishes this festive season.
Remove Your Make Up
When you’re rolling home at all hours of the night after boozy celebrations, it’s really tempting to fall into bed without taking your make-up off. However, this is a bad idea as not only with you rmake-up clog your pores, you’re also leaving the dirt of the day on your face to do its worst. Keep Decleor Bi-phase Caring Cleanser and Makeup Remover by your bed with some cotton pads as this will clean your face and remove make up with minimal effort.
Moisturise!
As we mentioned above, weather, central heating and festive boozing are all conspiring to dry your skin out so moisturising is more important than ever. Decleor Aromessence Neroli Amara Hydrating Oil Serum is suitable for all skin types and adds a wash of moisture with just a few drops.
Drink Water
One of the best tips we have ever been given is to get yourself a reusable water bottle, fill it with water and leave it by the side of your bed before you go out. This will reduce the need for fumbling around when you get home for a drink and will encourage you to drink throughout the night, as replacing lost hydration is really important for both your skin and your hangover!
Don’t Forget Your Hands
The skin on your hands is very prone to drying out at this time of year, and cracked skin doesn’t go very well with an expensive Christmassy manicure. We swear by Nailtiques Hand Conditioner for re-hydrating and conditioning the hands and cuticles, as the cream softens the skin but not the nails. Keep it in your bag or on your bedside table and try to apply a coating before bed.
ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz…..
We say this pretty much every year, but burning the candle at both ends is always going to have a bad effect on your skin and trying to maintain a good sleep schedule is the best way to avoid breakouts and major skin meltdowns. If you’re short of your eight hours a night, squeeze in a nap where you can so that the skin has plenty of time to repair itself, and use plenty of Elemis BIOTEC Skin Energising Night Cream to bolster healing.
