We’ve spoken many times about how the beauty industry can be subject to the same fads and fashions as any other industry, especially when it comes to the “next best” ingredients. In the mid-90’s and early noughties, it seemed that you couldn’t walk into a skincare aisle without tripping over a million products containing coenzyme Q10 and even TV ads were littered with mentions of the stuff! That being said, the naturally-produced anti-oxidant has stood the test of time and features in several of the products currently gracing our shelves – here are five of our favourites:

Sienna X Express Q10 Self Tan Tinted Mousse

This mousse from Sienna X is for so much more than tanning. It contains a healthy helping of coenzyme Q10 which prevents loss of firmness in the skin as you age, as well as minimising wrinkles and drying of skin from excessive exposure to the sun. The express formula gives you a tan after just one hour of application and can be left for up to four hours for a more intense glow. Infused with pomegranate and vitamin E, skin will be left feeling moisturised with a natural and flawless tan.

Skin Republic CoQ10 Anti-Wrinkle Effect Mask

This biodegradable sheet mask from Skin Republic is designed to give your skin a deep infusion of anti-ageing ingredients, including co-enzyme Q10. Along with the naturally occurring antioxidant, it contains vitamin C, E and amino acids which  nourish and renew revealing plumper, smoother and firmer looking skin. The mask takes just 15 minutes to show results and excess serum can be applied to the neck, décolletage and hands.

This Works Morning Expert CBD Booster + Co-Enzyme Q10

While CBD oil may have seemed like a bit of a fad just a few years ago, the hemp-derived ingredient can still be found in some of the most potent and popular skincare formulas. One such product is this skin-boosting serum from This Works, which combines CBD with co-enzyme Q10  to fight the appearance of post-sleep fatigue and restore skin’s glow. The formula is vegan, cruelty free and is of 98% natural origin and can be used in place of a moisturiser if you have oily skin.

Advanced Nutrition Programme Skin Ultimate

Not only can coenzyme Q10 be applied topically, it can also be taken in the form of supplements, such as this skin-saver from Advanced Nutrition. Along with vitamins A and D, omega 3 fatty acids and antioxidants including extracts of green tea, grapeseed, turmeric root, bilberry fruit, betacarotene, lutein and lycopene, these daily supplements contain  coenzyme Q10 and French maritime pine bark extract. The specialist supplement has been proven to offer benefits such as skin radiance, hydration and reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Bloom and Blossom Lovely Jubbly Bust Firming Gel

If you ask enough women where they’d like a little added firmness, we’d bet that many of them would say around their bust. This firming gel from Bloom and Blossom is designed to offer just that! It contains high levels of coenzyme Q10, which supports collagen production in the skin, giving skin cells their energy and in turn helping to firm skin. It also contains quince-hydrogel, which is full of polysaccharides that support the skin’s natural lipid production and angelica root oil, which helps to strengthen the skin.
