There’s little doubt that for most of us, having a baby takes its toll on us physically and mentally and many of us get months or years down the line and feel like we barely recognise ourselves at all. Between the sleepless nights, lack of time for ourselves and having carried a human inside our bodies for nine months, it’s little wonder that we often feel our appearance suffers in the ‘new baby bubble’. That’s why we’ve put together a list of little things that you can do which won’t take a lot of time but might leave you feeling a bit more like yourself:

Apply a Serum

Rosehip oil is well-known for it’s skin enriching properties and will give skin an important layer of moisture and protection which will increase luminosity. Dermalogica Overnight Repair Serum contains rosehip oil and will help to reverse the dull skin and dark circles under your eyes, associated with lack of sleep. It takes a minute to apply before bed and works wonders while you sleep.

Avoid Caffeine

We know that you’re probably living on coffee right now and suggesting you give it up is akin to asking you to sell your baby. However, caffeine has a dehydrating effect on your body, and dehydration will enhance fine lines, wrinkles and dark circles. Maybe try to at least cut down on your caffeine intake if you want your complexion to improve.

Think About Nutrition

Something that a LOT of us are guilty of (and understandably so) is eating convenience food and stuff which is easy to cram into your mouth with one hand, once baby comes along. We know that babies take up a lot of time and convenience is key, and one of the best tips we were ever given during pregnancy is to batch cook as many meals as your freezer can hold so that you’ve got pre-portioned, nutritious food to eat. Giving your body the correct nutrients (and water, don’t forget water!) is so important to the healing process and will massively help your skin in the process.

Throw on a Mask

Although new motherhood is a busy time, there’s a lot of down-time while baby is feeding and this is an excellent opportunity to throw on a mask and relax for a while! Elemis Pro-Collagen Hydra-Gel Eye Masks are perfect for new mums as they provide an instant skin-tightening effect, whilst hyaluronic acid hydrates the fragile eye area. Eye contours are left looking visibly smoother and feeling intensely moisturised.

Exercise

We know that the last thing you probably want to do after giving birth is high-intensity cardio, but sticking a pair of trainers on and walking a few laps of the park can benefit you in so many ways. As well as the obvious health benefits, it will help with your mental health because exercise releases endorphins, and we know it’s a massive cliche, but there’s no better beauty treatment than a smile on your face!
