For many of us, footcare is something which only really happens during the warmer, sandal-wearing months, and goes largely neglected while our feet are stuffed into boots and socks. But this means that by the time Spring rolls around, there are a lot of feet out there with a distinctly Hobbit-like appearance that needs to be remedied before we can even think about slipping on the Birkenstocks! In the spirit of preparedness, we’ve curated a list of five of our favourite foot care products to make sure you’re feeling ready to bear your toes by the time the weather improves:
Skin Republic Foot Peel Mask
Anyone who knows anything about footcare knows that foot peel masks are the biggest trend right now, with many photos hitting social media showing people shedding their skin like a snake. It might look extreme, but these masks target only the dead skin, leaving the healthy skin alone. Skin Republic’s Foot Peel Mask contains two booties which are enriched with a serum containing AHA’s and plant extracts which exfoliate and soften the skin, revealing healthy skin beneath.
This Works Perfect Heels Rescue Balm
Once you’ve taken care of removing any dead skin, giving your feet a deep dose of moisture is key to keeping them in good shape. This balm from This Works is specifically designed for the thicker skin on your feet and heels and contains ecocert cotton thistle, lemon and soothing lavender to help reconstruct the skin barrier. It transforms cracked heels and contains only natural fragrance.
Bloom and Blossom Wonder Worker Multi-Tasking Balm
While this balm isn’t necessarily a foot-specific product, it’s a multi-tasker which does an amazing job of caring for your feet. It contains shea butter, vitamin E and lavender oil to create a rich, deeply nourishing and intensive treatment for very dry skin, which melts in and heals any areas that need extra support. It also contains lanolin, which contains oils which are incredibly similar to those in your own skin, helping them to soak in and offer excellent nourishment.
Decleor Cica Botanic Balm
Balms are perfect for super dry skin as they’re generally the richest, most nourishing products. This balm from Decleor contains eucalyptus, rosemary, niaouli and geranium to soothe, repair and protect very dry skin, making it perfect for use on neglected feet. It’s made from 100% natural ingredients and is actually ideal for use on pretty much any area of your body, apart from the eyes.
Bloom and Blossom Spritzy Toes Revitalising Leg and Foot Spray
Callouses and hard skin are exacerbated by things like spending a lot of time on your feet and wearing ill-fitting shoes, so using a spray like this one from Bloom and Blossom can help to prevent it. It contains Aloe Vera leaf juice, lime oil and other ingredients to refresh and revive your feet after a hard day, as well as nourishing pentylene glycol, which adds moisture to your skin.
