Ah, February! That time of year when thoughts turn to romance, roses and all things Cupid related. Giving red roses may be an obvious romantic gesture today, but it wasn’t until the late 17th century that giving flowers became a popular custom. The act of giving flowers then became a popular trend during the Victorian Era, including on Valentine’s Day, with red roses symbolising deep love. That being said, there’s SO much more to roses than just being a token of affection; they’re also a fabulous ingredient in many of our favourite products, and we’ve curated a collection of five of the best for your consideration:

REN Clean Skincare Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil

There’s not much in the world that feels more luxurious than sliding into a richly-scented bath full of nourishing oils, and that’s exactly what you can do with this rose-infused product from REN Clean Skincare. It contains a blend of oils, including Moroccan rose otto oil, which is richly hydrating and skin soothing. There’s also geranium oil which helps hydrate skin, soothes and minimises signs of skin fatigue, as well as sesame oil which is easily absorbed into the skin and nourishes and softens.

Decleor Organic Rose Damascena Night Balm

Rose oil is known for it’s soothing properties, making it the perfect ingredient for night creams which are intended for sensitised, irritated skin. This night balm from Decleor was created to soothe skin and reduce signs of irritation as well as improving the protection of skin lipids. The formula is 100% natural and preservative free, so you know there’s no nasties in there to inflame your skin, and the rose, chamomile and geranium oils offer a delicate fragrance which is relaxing and aids sleep.

Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm

This cleansing balm from Elemis contains oils from several different breeds of rose, including English rose, and will melt away dirt and make-up, leaving your skin both clean and nourished. It is further infused with elderberry, starflower, optimega oils and padina pavonica, leaving skin feeling nourished and soothed, with a radiant glow. Formulated in line with the Elemis promise, the balm has a 100% naturally active fragrance and offers a high-end luxurious cleansing experience.

Aromatherapy Associates Hydrating Renewing Rose Cleanser

One thing that many of these rose products have in common  is that they offer superior cleansing while remaining delicate and gentle on the skin. This rose cleanser from Aromatherapy Associates is no exception – it’s infused with an essential oil blend of radiance-boosting finest damask rose and complexion balancing geranium which brightens and hydrates. Silky jojoba oil melts away impurities and make-up to leave skin dewy, freshened and petal-soft.

CND Vinylux – Crushed Rose

Okay, so we might have cheated a little here as this nail polish doesn’t technically contain rose, but it IS rose-coloured! This creamy, rich, rose-pink polish from CND’s Vinylux range is the perfect romantic shade of pink for a St. Valentine’s Day date-night with your beau. It’s one of CND’s Weekly Polishes which is designed to be used with their topcoat.
