Ingredient Focus: Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil has been used by humans for generations and is well-known for its powerful antiseptic properties and ability to treat wounds. It has a pleasant, camphorous odour and is known to help oily skin, help to dry out spots and to repel head lice, amongst other things! Several of the products that we stock here at Pure Beauty contain tea tree oil, so we thought we’d give you a look at five of our favourites.

Dermalogica All Over Toner

Becuase of it’s cleansing and purifying properties, Dermalogica have use tea tree oil in its All Over Toner, part of the Clear Start range which is aimed at tackling teenage skin. The toner can be spritzed over the face to calm irritation, kill spot-causing bacteria and refresh the face when it’s feeling tight and uncomfortable. It will help to control breakouts and can minimise redness almost instantly.

Dermalogica Body Hydrating Cream

This body cream from Dermalogica has two functions; first, it helps to smooth away rough, dead skin cells and secondly, it’s quickly absorbed to re-texturise and soften the skin. The tea tree oil is used alongside green tea, camomile and lavender, as well as sandalwood, orange, clary sage, patchouli and rosemary help to hydrate the skin and lock in moisture. It’s suitable for all skin types and gives immediate results.

Elemis Tea Tree S.O.S. Spray

The Tea Tree S.O.S. Spray from Elemis is one of those products which has so many uses that we probably can’t even list them all! It’s a formulation of purest Australian tea tree oil suspended in purified water and can be used as a facial toner, to cleanse wounds, to treat fungal infections, as a post-wax soothing spray, an insect repellent and to soothe insect bites, as well as being used to clean the Elemis body brush and EVEN to deodorise smelly gym shoes! It’s a product which is worth it’s weight in gold and we thing every home should own a bottle.

Dermalogica Hydro-Active Mineral Salts

Here at Pure Beauty, we love these bath salts because they can be used in two different ways. Dissolved into a warm bath, the salts create a spa-like experience which provides soothing scent and a deeply relaxing bathing experience which will soften the skin and unknot tired muscles.
