Okay, okay, we won’t say it…after all, it is only October. However, the “Festive Season” is just around the corner and that means, for many of us, lots of parties and engagements at which we need to look our best. Be it a cocktail party with friends, a work Christmas do, or simply a family get together to exchange gifts and hugs, you’ll want to dazzle, and that means you need to start caring for your face NOW!
Cleanse! Tone! Moisturise!
We say this all the time; it’s all well and good using masques and oils to treat your skin but the basis of any good skincare routine needs to adhere to the age-old mantra of cleanse, tone and moisturise. Why not treat yourself to one of our Dermalogica kits, specific for each skin type, and get yourself (if you aren’t already) into a proper daily routine of caring for your skin. Believe us – you’ll be thankful for the effort when December comes around and you look more radiant than ever.
Stay Hydrated
Being dehydrated can have a terrible effect on your skin as it will enhance the signs of ageing, such as fine lines, as well as leaving your skin feeling thin and papery. This only gets worse with alcohol consumption, so getting into a good routine of regularly drinking water now will set you in good stead for all of the festive cheer you’ll potentially be consuming within the next couple of months! A good tip is to buy a water bottle which holds at least 1L – fill this and drink it all twice a day, across the course of the day, and you’ll feel much better for it.
Get Plenty of Sleep
It would be lovely to think that all you need to do over Christmas is turn up to parties looking fabulous. The reality is, you’ll likely be starting in October with all of the shopping, organising, cooking and making sure each family member is where they need to be for all of the different engagements such as school plays. If you get the chance, try to take advantage of the longer nights to get plenty of sleep now. The body uses this time to repair and regenerate cells so sleep really is your greatest weapon against the signs of ageing – and let’s face it, eye bags do NOT go well with a cocktail dress, so use a decent night cream too.
