Even if you’re the type of person who’s blessed with naturally amazing skin, we ALL have days or weeks where we feel like our skin is looking a little…MEH! When you’re having a day where you feel like you’ve lost your glow, there are plenty of things you can do to help, but we thought we’d take a look at some of the root causes so that you can attack your lack of glow and lay off of the highlighter!:

Lack of Moisture

You may think you have a certain skin type, but if your skin is looking dull and lacklustre, there’s a really good chance that it’s lacking moisture and you really need to up your hydration. Drinking more water is essential to get your glow back, but adding a richer moisturiser to your routine, such as Decleor Lift and Firm Day Cream will transform your skin.

Forgetting to Exfoliate

One of the quickest ways to make your skin look dull is to forget exfoliation within your routine. When you don’t exfoliate, the top layer of dead cells builds up and will literally hide the healthy skin beneath. You only need to use Elemis Gentle Rose Exfoliator once a week to restore your complexion to its glowing, radiant former self.

Too Much Mattifying

If you suffer from excess oil, you probably use mattifying products such as face creams and matte make-up to try to combat the effects. However, mattifying products have a tendency over time to make skin look dull and overwhelmed. Decleor Bi-phase Caring Cleanser and Makeup Remover is formulated to cleanse your skin, removing all traces of make-up and nourish the complexion using botanical oils & precious floral water.

Pollution

If you live or work in a high-traffic area or a place which produces a lot of pollution, this can cling to your skin. Polluted air contains a host of tiny particles, like dirt and sulfur dioxide, that create free radicals on skin. Free radicals damage collagen (hello, new wrinkles!) and stimulate pigment production over time and when your skin’s tone and texture are uneven, it diffuses light and looks dull. Decleor Anti-Pollution Hydrating Gel-Cream will protect the skin against urban pollution and prevent dullness.

Eating Badly

We know it’s boring to harp on about eating healthily and avoiding alcohol, because life is supposed to be for living right? However, there’s no getting away from the fact that a balanced diet has a profound effect on your skin. If you don’t want to go full-on health guru, add a multivitamin to your diet, reduce any mid-week drinking and try to cut processed foods down as much as possible.
