Autumn/Winter Skincare Suggestions

When you feel as if your skin is dry, dehydrated and sensitive from the turning of the seasons, what is the best thing to do? I would always suggest if you’re in a right pickle, then go and see a trained Beauty Therapist. They can shed some light on why your skin has changed, because it is not always down to the colder seasons and the heating blasting 24/7. However, if you know that your skin will benefit from a few new products, then keep reading for my top Autumn/Winter suggestions.

Changes to Make If You Suffer with Dry Skin

Cleansers

I love the Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cleanser going into the colder months. It is formulated to effectively remove make-up and dirt without damaging the lipid barrier on your skin. It is fortified with phytoactives from Coconut and Murumuru Seed Butter to enhance the skin’s natural resilience. Furthermore, it also contains invigorating extracts of Citrus, Palmarosa and Jasmine to help soothe and refresh tired skin. It is the perfect, gentle, all round cleanser.

The Elemis Pro Collagen Cleansing Balm is another favourite of mine. I have used this on and off for around five years now, and I always buy a pot this time of year. The balm easily dissolves make-up, daily grime and pollutants. Luxurious Rose and Mimosa waxes are infused with nourishing Elderberry, Starflower and Optimega oils and supercharged with anti-ageing algae, Padina Pavonica.

Exfoliators

It is important to exfoliate all year round. Now the sun is starting to hide a little more, it may be a good time to think about hitting the harder exfoliators, but make sure to always wear SPF still! The REN Ready, Steady, Glow Daily AHA Tonic is formulated with gentle, yet powerful Lactic Acid (AHA) and Salicin (BHA), this skin-resurfacing tonic is formulated for daily use, brightening your skin.

If you prefer a physical, granular exfoliator, then the UpCircle Coffee Face Scrub is a gentle exfoliator that helps to buff away dry, dead skin. Formulated for dry, de-hydrated skin types, this coffee scrub contains rosehip, sweet orange and lemon essential oils to reveal a glowing complexion, whilst Shea butter will keep your skin moisturised and nourished afterwards.

Masks

One that I have to suggest is the Decleor Neroli Bigarage Oil Mask. I use this during my Decleor treatments to treat those clients with dry, dehydrated skin. It is amazing for everyone, as it contains Wild Pansy Extract that increases Hyaluronic Acid synthesis to instantly plump skin and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. As well as the signature Neroli, which is gentle and hydrating for all skin types and conditions.

If sheet masks are something you’ve seen floating around the internet and may want to try yourself, then look no further than the CACI Hydro Masks. They have a soothing and calming effect on the skin that immediately reduces the appearance of skin redness and irritation. The Hydro Mask contains intensive moisturising properties that replenish sun damaged and dehydrated skin. They also contain powerful antioxidant ingredients that helps to smooth and soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Serums

A good serum is key to good skincare. I always tell my clients that serums are where you should be spending your money. It is a power burst of concentrated ingredients, so you want them to be pure and powerful. The Aromatherapy Associates Anti-Ageing Intensive Skin Treatment Oil is a unique vitamin enriched skin treatment oil ideal for dry, dehydrated and more mature skin types. With a blend of high-altitude grown Lavender to support stressed skin and vitality reviving Rose oils along with Vitamin E and Rosehip Seed oil nourish and encourage natural skin renewal.

Whilst the MediK8 C-Tetra Luxe is a lipid Vitamin C enhanced radiance serum. Utilising the antioxidant power of vitamin C and E, the hydrating serums brighten and smooth the complexion, while fighting free radicals to reduce visible signs of ageing. This product is to be used during the day, with SPF applied afterwards. If you feel your skin is tired, dull and tight, then this serum is for you.

Moisturisers

If it’s a bit of sun you’re missing, the Decleor Green Mandarin Sun-Kissed Glow Cream is a day cream that will moisturise, and help to prevent fine lines and wrinkles while giving an immediate even sun-kissed glow to all skin types. A blend of Citrus Essential Oils, natural Hyaluronic Acid and Beta-Carotene to re-energise tired looking skin.

The Elemis Peptide4 Adaptive Day Cream is a handy daily moisturiser that also primes the skin, leaving it with a satin matte finish that never feels dry. Your skin’s oil production tends to peak in the early afternoon, leading to excess shine in the T-zone. This daily moisturiser adapts to your skin’s needs, keeping your complexion looking balanced and smooth throughout the day. It is formulated for all skin types, meaning it is a great all-round product, and can be used all year round too. I love it especially in the colder months, because your skin is going through a little bit of a change, along with the weather.

So now is the time to start thinking about changing up your routine. Whether you want to start fresh, or just swap out one or two bits, there is something for everyone on this post.
