Skincare for Winter Sports

Skiing SkincareThe whole of the UK seems to be gearing up for Christmas, despite the fact that it’s still weeks away, but if you’re a fan of winter sports there’s a good chance you’ll be planning a winter vacation to hit the slopes before you even think about Christmas. Skiing and snowboarding are a great way to stay active, but the harsh winter conditions can play havoc with your skin, so we thought we’d give you some tips on how to take care of your face and other areas in the extreme cold.

Sunscreen

If you’ve been skiing before, there’s a very good chance you’ll have noticed just how many people neglect sunscreen and end up with a half-sunburnt face below the goggle line. On a clear day, the sun will be reflected off of the pure white snow and its effects can be amplified to almost dangerous levels. Stay ahead of the curve and pack a high-strength sunscreen, such as Decleor Protective Anti-Wrinkle Cream SPF50 Face, which will not only protect you from the sun but also work on reversing any potential signs of aging.

Lip balm

Very cold climates can be really harsh on the lips and chapped lips are one of the most common skin complaints during winter sports. Dermalogica Climate Control Lip Treatment is specifically designed to combat and protect against the effects of the cold, and will nourish your lips whilst guarding against chapping, redness and dryness.

Hand cream

Hands are another area which can suffer in cold climates, and although you’ll probably be wearing a decent set of gloves during your outdoor pursuits, it can’t help to afford your hands some added protection. Decleor Nourishing and Smoothing Hand Cream has been designed with the elements in mind and will protect your hands, as well as reducing the signs of aging, such as dark spots.

Gentle cleanser

Whether you’re a skier or a snowboarder, after a day on the slopes you’ll want to cleanse your skin and if you’re feeling a little chapped, using a gentle cleanser is a good idea. Decleor Brightening Cleansing Foam is a foaming gel which restores radiance and evens the complexion and removes all traces of make-up and daily dirt with its gentle foaming action.

Moisturiser

Unless you usually have naturally very oily skin, we’d highly recommend a very rich moisturising cream for use during a skiing holiday as the skin’s natural moisture gets stripped away in the cold and harsh conditions. Decleor Intense Nutrition Comforting Cocoon Cream is an extremely nourishing moisturiser for very dry skin which wraps the skin in a protective cocoon to fight against free-radicals and external irritants.
