Washing makeup brushes regularly is essential

We all dread falling victim to spots and blemishes, and besides having a dent on your confidence, getting rid of them as quickly as possible can also feel like a task in itself. Wishing the days away and hoping that your blemishes will be gone by morning is no way to live your life, which is why it’s important to consider all of the factors that could contribute to these irritants appearing- even those factors which you may think are insignificant.

Although many people overlook them, grubby makeup brushes can be culprits when it comes to the appearance of spots and blemishes. It’s not difficult to see why either- think about the amount of products that go onto these brushes on a regular basis, then consider the amount of dirt and germs which can accumulate.

Ideally, you should wash your makeup brushes around once a month, although this could vary depending on how much you use them, the type of makeup you’re using and where you store them.

Wash brushes in warm water using a special solution or even a drop of very mild shampoo, then leave them to air dry naturally so that bristles don’t get damaged.

If you think that dirty makeup brushes may be contributing to spots, make sure that you wash them or invest in new brushes as a matter of urgency, and to clear up existing spots in the meantime, opt for an effective yet gentle Dermalogica Cleanser.
